How many people when buying a house, find themselves in the dilemma of what to do to decorate it without having to spend a lot of money? You can either pay outrageous amounts of money to have somebody do the job for you, or like we did, you can find inexpensive and fairly easy ways to give your house a special look. You can have a country look, traditional or contemporary - it doesn't matter: many things can be done to reflect what you like.

When we bought our house, we realized that some things needed to be done. We couldn't afford getting everything new, so we decided to change the look of some things, by doing "do-it-yourself" projects.  We started with simple things like changing the look of light fixtures or fans, and then adventured to change the look of our counters without having to replace or having to hire somebody else.

We never thought we were going to be putting together these do-it-yourself projects, so we don't have every step by step picture that we would like to show.
