If you read some of our other articles in our website, you probably noticed that our main purpose is to give you inexpensive ways to use in any kind of project you might be doing. We are by no means professionals on these subjects, and all our advice is based on personal experience. We can consider "recycling materials" an inexpensive way of decorating. That is exactly what we did with some paint that we had leftover from other projects. You can see that many products are sold in the stores to create some paint faux finishes, but why not use paint that we already have? Faux finishes are a nice way to give a room a different touch without having to spend a lot of time or money and end up with something creative and unique for your decor. You can paint all the walls in a room or just one. In our case, I thought of giving one wall - the focal point in the bedroom - a marble faux finish. I also did it in the walls in a corridor. You need two or more colors. I had leftover paint from other rooms - ash gray (almost white) and beige with a tone of gray in it. So, you start painting the wall with your darker color (that is what we chose - you can also start with white as a base and then accent it with the darker tone) You start by painting the whole wall. After that is done, you'll need two pans: one for your dark color, one for the light. (it is better to use some contrast in the colors so that you can see the marble effect) So, using some old rags and some gloves - one rag will be for the dark color and one for the lighter. I started ragging the white, here and there in a very irregular manner. Every once in a while, I would get back and look at the spots I wanted to cover the most. When you think you have quite a bit of white there, get the other rag with the darker tone, and over the white, do the same - irregular ragging all over the wall. In other words, go crazy with the rags. Let dry, and after a couple of hours the paint will show a pattern. If you think you want more white, go for it. You can also have a third tone for the very end. I didn't choose to do this, but you can also get a very dark color and LIGHTLY rag it on the wall... You can also use a feather and draw irregular small lines imitating cracks in the marble.
