Fancy fans
Want to change the look of that old fan? A nice fancy fan, will cost you a lot in the store. But there are ways for you to change the look of your old fashioned fan and the answer might be in just a can of spray paint.
I was tired of my old fans. I didn't want to spend a lot of money in getting new ones, so I just thought I might try to copy the new styles out there and make the fans that I had, have the looks of their own.

It is really easy. You just need a can of spray paint - in my case, I wanted to give it a brown, simil copper look - and some gold paint. I picked the gold paint in a little can (not the spray paint) so that I can work with my brush. The gold is oil based, while the base color is water based.

My husband helped me get the fans down and I took the old fixtures out and started spraying away. I used the brown as my base color. Once it was dry, I got a sponge and started sponging the golden color to it. Anywhere you think you need some gold, play with the sponge.

Then, once the pain part is done, I got some cheap light fixture and got some chain at the hardware store. I wanted to give it an antique look so I rusted the chain and the rings. For my next step, I used my very best friend: the glue gun. Glue the rings and the chain onto the rings (I decided to use 3 rings and glued the chain to the 3 rings, you might want to use more)

I put the fixture up and changed the blades to match the wood I have in the living room and in the master bedroom. I got myself an antique looking fan in no time and spent almost nothing to make it look like new and with a unique look.
